Girlies

Can I say I absolutely love having teenage girls in the house?  These girls ended up not having any of their classes together during school hours so they are suffering from withdrawls.  They want to spend every waking moment together....luckily with me too.  This weekend they did makeovers on each other and I thought it'd be fun to take pictures.  I am no photographer...but had fun snapping while showering in sweat with the girlies.  Friendships are made of this:

Opinions Matter

My friends...I need your help.  Jason is officially done with school in a month which now means I will begin.   I've attended college at the University of Nebraska and Hastings College, have a degree, but am seeking for a career to be passionate about.  Gritty teeth and bad breath (of patients) just won't cut it. I am generally a happy person, which means I could be happy flipping (a.k.a. microwaving) burgers at McDonald's but I desire a career I am excited about that would also be excited about me.  My problem being, I could be an eternal student.  I want to do EVERYTHING, but since I don't want to leave my kids with a mountain of school debt when I die...I had better get it narrowed down.  I have been actively striving for guidance.  I have taken multiple tests as far as what 'type' of careers would best suit my personality, skills, and passion.
According to the quizzes I rank highest in Persuasion at 99%....following is Creativity at 82%...and Communication at 79%.....everything else was under 50%.

My point to this...I would appreciate and value your opinion. I have some ideas I am tossing around but would also like to know what YOU could picture me doing in a career. (Sarcasm unwelcome...for once) Sometimes you learn more about yourself from others than you know about yourself.
So, please share some ideas that would fit in the persuasion, creativity, and communication category.  If your career is chosen maybe I'll throw in a college t-shirt...or an invite to the graduation...and/or you can just sleep well at night knowing you inspired me.

Younger Than Your Mother

Yep, you're looking at a half-way to 70 year old.  I've aged to be top shelf whiskey.
All kidding aside...I've been getting the old lady jokes, blah, blah...but actually it doesn't affect me anymore.  My age..not the jokes.
Yes, the jokes make me study myself more closely in the mirror.  But the age part doesn't make me wince.  I am grateful for another year to be alive on this earth.  Grateful for all I can do in one year.  Grateful for more wisdom.  Grateful to be me.
So laugh it up...I'm 35.

I didn't do anything fabulouso for my birthday today. No comedy clubs.  No surprises. No extravagant parties. In fact, I think it's the first birthday that I was alone with my sweet family.  But I lived it to it's fullest...like I try to do everyday.

They wanted me to do things that made me happy:

I slept in..and woke to rain and thunder...and a camera.

Attention:  This is not false advertising.  In fact, if anything, they are being too modest.  These are the best doughnuts in the Western United States...maybe the whole country.  Krispy Kreme can cram it.

Jay left at 6am to ensure he would get there in time before they sold out to get my fave...the classic glazed.
No cake necessary.

It also happened to be meet the teacher day.  School starts on Monday!  I am not  excited.  Actually, I really will miss my little ragamuffins...but I am ready for a routine and my house needs to be cleaned.

Lunch at Cafe Rio.  I had a low blood sugar, so unfortunately I was in my drunken state and don't quite remember the whole meal.  But it sure looked good.  I usually provide Jason with some good entertainment when those 'incidents' occur...and I think he likes me better that way.

I am used to always 'receiving' things on my birthday.  This was the first time we went to the temple on my birthday and I loved the fact I was able to serve and give something so precious to someone else.  We did some very dear family names and I was blessed with amazing experiences. Everytime I go to the temple I leave with experiences stronger than I can describe.  My biggest gift today was the shared emotions I felt and the knowledge gained.

ONE of the Tanner favorite restaurants.  Chicken Chipotle Pasta...the best on the menu.

Gifts from the kiddos.  Somehow I don't think the 5 bucks they both chipped in covered the bill.
I love this store...also because it reminds me of the line in 'Elf' with the name Francisco....which plays in my head and makes me smile everytime I walk in.

Ok, so seriously all I wanted for my birthday was for Jay to take me to Six Flags Magic Mountain.  He obviously is more practical with money to do something that would last longer and he is actually very observant to things I need.  The old dinosaur was KILLING me.  It took me forever to get anything done.

My new Fujitsu laptop!  I could hack into the White House with this thing....or at least Skype now.  I'm seriously in heaven with all of it's gadgets and the things I will be able to do in half the time.  So much of my life and work are on the computer....so it is the best gift he could have given.
Six Flags can be next month for the Tanner anniversary.

My life doesn't usually consist of this much food...but we ended with my summertime weakness...Sonic. Unfortunately, we end up here at least one night a week during the eleven p.m. hour.  I think it's more about getting out together in the darkness of night than it is actually about the slushes.

So although some may find my day a bore....I can tell you, I can't remember having a boring day in my life because I love life, I love to love, and I love to live.

So....who wants to take me to lunch this week to celebrate???
